Regulars come back for freshness, not to browse, and new customers need to tell one product from another without a glossary. A subscription store should serve both, and keep signing up to a few choices.

- **Services:** Web Development
- **Industry:** Commerce
- **Timeline:** Roughly 2–4 months for a storefront with subscriptions
- **Backed by:** 1 case study · 1 concept

## Who it’s for

Roasters, bakers and small-batch makers who sell the same products to the same people week after week.

## Features

**Must have**

- A homepage led by what's being made next
- Product pages that read like the label
- A subscription that takes three choices, not a form
- Pause, skip and change from the customer's account
- One-time orders beside subscriptions
- Fast product pages on a phone

**Nice to have**

- Gift subscriptions
- A roast or production calendar customers can follow
- Tasting notes and brewing guides
- Offers for one-time buyers to subscribe

## Screens and flows

1. Homepage with the calendar
2. Shop listing
3. Product page
4. Subscription sign-up
5. Checkout
6. Customer account and subscription settings

## Platform options

- **Headless commerce website.** Commerce runs behind the scenes while product pages are static and load instantly. This is how Coffee Roastery is planned.
- **A hosted store theme.** For a small range with simple subscriptions, a hosted store with a custom theme can be enough. We'd say so if it fits.

## Integrations

- A headless commerce platform for products and orders
- Subscription billing

## How we'd approach it

We'd lead with freshness. For a roaster, the roast calendar is the homepage, because it's the reason regulars come back. Every product page reads like its bag label, so a new customer can choose without help.

The subscription is three choices, then checkout. Pausing or skipping sits in the account, not behind an email to the shop.

Coffee Roastery is a studio concept and a web build, not client work. What we'd measure is subscriptions started from the homepage, repeat orders from one-time buyers, and time from landing to checkout.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why three choices for a subscription?

Most subscribers decide on what, how much and how often. Asking only that keeps sign-up short; everything else can be changed later from the account.

### Do we need headless commerce?

Not always. It earns its place when the store's look and speed matter as much as checkout. With a small range, a hosted theme may do.

### Can it sell more than coffee?

Yes. The same pattern fits any product people reorder on a rhythm: bread, tea, flowers, pet food. Coffee is the example we designed around.
