A booking app succeeds when choosing a time is quicker than phoning. That means showing real availability first and asking for details last. Here's how we'd design and build one for appointments or services.

- **Services:** Mobile Development · UI/UX Design
- **Timeline:** Roughly 2–4 months, more for several staff calendars
- **Backed by:** 1 case study · 1 concept
- **Updated:** 2026-10-02

## Who it’s for

Practices, salons, studios and service businesses that take bookings by phone or chat and lose track of who is coming when.

## Features

**Must have**

- Real availability shown before any form
- Booking in a few taps, with details asked last
- Confirmation and a reminder before the slot
- Cancel and reschedule without calling
- A staff view of the day's bookings
- Rules for opening hours, breaks and slot length

**Nice to have**

- Several staff or rooms with their own calendars
- Deposits for slots that are often missed
- A waitlist that fills cancelled slots
- Repeat bookings on a fixed rhythm

## Screens and flows

1. Choose a service
2. Pick a day and time
3. Your details
4. Confirmation
5. My bookings
6. Staff day view

## Platform options

- **iOS and Android app.** Best when customers book again and again, since push reminders and saved details make the next booking faster.
- **Web booking page.** Best when most customers book once. No install, and the link can sit on your site and social profiles. The two can share one booking system.

## Integrations

- Push notifications for reminders

## How we'd approach it

We'd put availability first. The customer chooses a service and sees open times straight away; name and phone number come after they've picked one, when they already have a reason to fill them in.

Then the other side of the counter. Staff need one view of the day where they can add a booking taken by phone, move one, or mark a no-show, or the calendar in the app drifts from the real one.

Our nearest work is the Clinic Queue App, a studio concept that pairs slot booking with a live queue. It isn't client work; it shows how we'd handle the booking flow on iOS and Android.

## Frequently asked questions

### Should we build an app or a booking page on our website?

If customers book rarely, a web page is enough. If they book often, an app earns its install through reminders and remembered details. Many businesses start on the web.

### How is this different from a clinic queue app?

A booking app sells fixed times. A queue app tracks a line that moves. Clinics often need both, and our Clinic Queue App concept combines slot booking with a live queue.

### Can staff manage bookings from a computer?

Yes. We'd give staff a browser view of the day so they can add phone bookings and see who is next without the customer app.
